The BBC carries a report that Chinese energy firm CCNOC is planning to buy US firm Unocal for its Asian assets. They would sell off US-based assets. Perhaps the Chinese are wary of the prospect of future nationalization by the USA in light of Russia's recent nationalization of Yukos in December, a possibility I mentioned last July; the vehicle there was the state-owned company Rosneft.
